Japan Yoga Festival in Yokohama
Japan Yoga Festival in Yokohama
The Japan Yoga Festival is organized by Satoshi Watamoto and the Yoga Works staff. Once again Kanako san was our liaison and Yuki san was our translator. One class was a ninety minute yin yoga practice and the other was a presentation on skeletal anatomy. Both classes were full and very inspiring to teach.

Yoga Journal Japan was covering the Yoga Fest and sponsored a discussion between Paul and Akira Watamoto. Akira-san was the lead in this conversation and posed many interesting questions about the intersection of science and yoga. Akira is an exemplar of a modern yoga instructor, his years of practice and teaching have made him a large influence in Japan and he continuously strives to integrate yoga styles and scientific ideas. It was stimulating and enlightening to listen in on this conversation.

Looking over the long list of classes and more than seventy teacher biographies in the Yoga Fest Program it is clear that yoga has arrived and growing in Japan. We were honored to be a part of the burdgeoning yoga movement taking root here.
